His mouth was dry as the desert ad he stepped through the front door of the house. God hep anything that stood between him and the refrigerator, because nothing was stopping him from reaching the liquid salvation that waiting for him behind the door. The first victim of the tremendous thirst was a half jug of lemonade sitting on the top shelf. This was drunk faster than it took for his tastebuds to recognize and register the cold beverage washing over them, but they agreed with every other part of his mouth that this was exactly what was needed. The next thing his eyes fell upon was the glistening Brita water jug on the third shelf down. the condensation on the outside called out "Drink Me!" Saying no wasn't an option. As he stood there, thanking his good luck, it seemed that one of the majestic bucks on the label winked at him. By this time, while still somewhat thirsty, there wasn't the voice inside telling him to get as much cold liquid into his stomach as fast as possible. This didn't stop him from grabbing the closest bottle and cracking it open. The beer had flavor, it was cold, it was refreshing and it was finished before he realized. He grabbed another.
Earlier, he had told his coworker that within five minutes of getting home there wouldn't be any liquids left in the fridge. He couldn't live up to his prediction since there were still 4 beers left, and he had taken fifteen minutes to consume the refreshments, but he wasn't discouraged. His thirst was gone, his mouth could generate saliva, and the sense that he would be the first of his friends to die, and from dehydration no less, was gone.
Now he just had to do something about that grumbling in his stomach. Come here chicken...
